About Us – familiar folx
In 2025, Spartan Pythons went under new ownership by Elijah Nyx with familiar folx. familiar folx is an LGBTQIA+ and family-owned company dedicated to demystifying reptiles and amphibians as pets by showing love to those that often go unloved. We want to make sure that our cold-blooded family members are as well-loved and well-cared for as our cats and dogs. We consider all our pets family and recognize that they all have their own needs, personalities, and preferences.

Neurodiverse & Knowledgeable
When you ask us a question about our snakes, we will likely regale you with far more information than you ever wanted to know and entertain you with some of their quirks or preferences. Our snakes are well-socialized, exposed to daily handling, loved by our (human) kid, and desensitized to cats and dogs (with careful supervision). Any snakes sold will also be reliably eating frozen thawed rodents unless explicitly stated otherwise.
In addition to keeping these snakes in our home and treating them as an extended part of our family, I (Beatrix), am pursuing a degree in zoology with a concentration in herpetology and am constantly working to improve our husbandry to keep our snakes as content as possible. I was a veterinary technician for years and am the primary caregiver to our snakes. My partner, Elijah, is the kind of person to spend hours in the rain trying to get a kitten out from under the hood of their vehicle. They succeeded and Frankie (short for Frankenstein) joined the family in the summer of 2024. When not caring for our family zoo, you might find us at the actual zoo with our 6 year old, doing some sort of artwork, or just relaxing while watching horror movies.
In addition to our ball pythons, we have a Savannah monitor, a Honduran milk snake, a bearded dragon, a pygmy bearded dragon (Rankin’s dragon), a leopard gecko, four dogs, and three cats.
familiar folx Believes in Love
We support the right of all people to live and love whomever they want, and will not tolerate any questioning of the right of our family to exist. If you don’t like our lifestyle, please feel free to buy a snake somewhere else. We’d rather not expose our snakes to that kind of hatred. Hate has no home here.
Spartan Pythons, owned and operated by familiar folx, can’t wait to show you all the wonderful things our snakes can do.
